What do people think about fashion?

Nowadays it is an important fact in everybody's life. The latest jeans, the most expensive sweaters, fashionable clothes, are the principal worries. Everyone wants to be attractive and call attention. Why are people so interested in wearing expensive clothes and showing them off?

Paris, Milan and New York are considered the major fashion centers of the whole world. They have the best designers, such as, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce & Gabana, Versace, Fendi, Victoria’s secret, etc, and the most popular manufacturers of fashion clothes and accessories. It’s also said that those are the ones who decide what’s “in” and what’s “old fashioned”. Their clothes are extremely expensive and not everyone can buy them. Here, in Argentina, we have different brands which are the most famous that’s the case of, Wanama, John L. Cook, Kosiuko, Levi’s and Jazmín Chebar. Their clothes are fantastic!

Fashion trends take a lot into account such as the weather, season, comfort, and lifestyle. Girls are the ones who are interested in them. They are very flirty, they want to impress all the time and they hate to wear the same apparel more than once! Because if they did so they could be rudely stared at or whispered about in public. And that’s the biggest fear of women: to be discriminated!

Fashion discrimination is very common nowadays. We don't realize it, but it's real. People prejudge others for their appearance. A good example could be the relationship between teenagers and “floggers” or “emos”. They don’t even talk to them because they look different, but they are people too and they have feelings. Just think about how you would feel if society reject you that way. Fashion discrimination also includes fat people. They go into a shop and all the clothes are small. They don’t fit in them! Clothes are made in small sizes and they don’t take into account fat ones. And due to this they don’t want to buy clothes and they go out with very low self-esteem.

Clothes show your personality. The majority of people believe that wearing expensive clothes is a good way to look wonderful. But there is another thing that isn’t considered by them. Personality shows what you are and how you are inside. People just work on what’s outside, but they don’t develop their own personality because they are worried about what others say. Few people, do not care about fashion and feel it is a senseless waste. They just put on things that makes them feel comfortable and casual and believe that there are a lot of things in life to be concerned about, not only fashion and appearence. Generally, they don’t use make up and they aren’t interested in beauty itself.

Image is taking an essential place, mostly among girls. They want to be accepted, and to fit in on their group of friends. They are always browsing fashion magazines and reading articles about how to look better, including beauty, health, photos, or places where you can buy brand clothes. That's why consumerism is increasing all the time. Fashion leads people to buy constantly in the most expensive shops. They want them to believe that wearing something "in" makes them important. And that’s the way they feel wearing them, fiting into society, and they don’t want to let that feeling go! They want to show it off!

It would be great if we change our behaviour because consumerism and discrimination is increasing day by day, and it is turning into a vicious cycle and it will be difficult to get out from it. What’s more, we are becoming more selfish and superficial, and we don’t care about the most important thing, THE INSIDE!
